A PERFECT ESCAPE – AND SPECTACULAR TOO.

The Clifton is perched high on the cliffs, overlooking sparkling blue waters and out to Culver Cliffs.

We warmly welcome all of our guests to The Clifton. However due to the historic nature and inherited design features of the building we are aware that some of our guests need as much information about our facilities as possible, in order to ensure it is suitable to make their holiday the perfect experience.

Pre-arrival

Shanklin Old Village is approximately ½ mile away.

The nearest bus stop is approximately 200 yds away, while Shanklin Bus Station is approximately ½ mile away. Shanklin Rail Station is approximately a mile away.

We use reliable local taxi firms and would be happy to make any arrangements upon your request.

Arrival and car parking facilities

The main entrance has ramped access and opens into the reception area.

We have one disabled car parking space next to the entrance with approximately 15 other spaces in our car park. The car park slopes down from the car park entrance to the main door.

We are more than happy to help you with your luggage should you require it.

Reception and public areas

All ground floor facilities are on one level, and well lit, Carpeted reception and bar, wooden floor in the conservatory and dining area with Persian rugs.

The reception desk is 108cm tall, however, all reception staff will be more than happy to come to you should it be too high.

We have a lounge area in the ground floor conservatory, with a snug area near the bar. Each is well lit and carpeted.

Public WC’s

There are toilets situated in the reception area, including a disabled toilet, all have level access.

Lounge and Snug Bar

Both the Lounge and the Snug Bar are easily accessible on one level with the exception of threshold steps of two inches in height. There is a flat-screen TV in the Snug Bar.

The outside decked seating area has level access, with a slight ramp from the reception area. Full waiting service is provided in the Lounge, Garden and on the decking for all food.

Breakfast is a buffet of cereals, yoghurts, fruits, freshly baked pastries and juices with waiting service for all cooked food and hot drinks, however, all of our staff are happy to assist wherever we can upon request.

Gluten-free cereal and soya milk are provided at breakfast, all other dietary requirements are catered for provided sufficient notice is provided at booking.

Laundry

The Clifton does not operate a laundry service, although we have facilities to dry wet clothing. A serviced launderette is less than ½ mile away.

Outdoor facilities

Our garden overlooking the sea is accessible from the decking via 4 steps. There is then level access from the garden to the coastal path.

Bedrooms

There are 14 bedrooms available on four levels, with a total of 13 steps to the first level, 4 from first to second, 13 from second to third, and 5 from third to fourth. No bedrooms are on the ground floor. The Clifton does not have a lift.

All rooms are carpeted with even floors to all rooms.

T.V remotes are available in all rooms as is a hospitality tray.

All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Grab rails are available in some bathrooms

Most rooms have a walk-in shower. Some rooms have a standard height bath with shower over.

Additional information

Our premises are totally non-smoking, however, we invite smokers to enjoy our garden area with provided ashtrays.

Pets of any description are not allowed in The Clifton. Guide dogs are welcome.

The Clifton is relatively small with no suitable facilities only children 10 years and over are welcomed as guests.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

Mobile phone network coverage and 3G is patchy throughout the hotel.

A selection of Isle of Wight Information is available in the residents’ hallway.
