The Island is around two hours from London, for example, by both car and train. Ferries embark from Portsmouth, Southampton, or Lymington. We can organise your ferry crossings to and from the Isle of Wight for you, JUST ASK. Prices vary according to the time of year that you travel. Fridays & Saturdays in the high season & Bank Holidays are more expensive. Red Funnel ( Southampton ) will charge less if you travel at a time of day that is generally not busy for them.
When arriving on the Island you will disembark at one of the following terminals... Fishbourne, East Cowes, or Yarmouth.
To get to The Clifton from any port drive via Newport, then follow signs to Sandown. Ignore signs to Shanklin about 2 miles past Newport and again at the mini-roundabout in Apse Heath. In Lake (9 miles from Newport) turn right at the T junction, where the road is marked Shanklin. After a mile, go half left at the Five Ways traffic lights signposted Ventnor. This is Queens Road. The Clifton is at the far end of Queens Road on the left. If you are coming from Ryde via Sandown, simply follow signs to Shanklin and the directions from the Five Ways lights. We have our own private car park which is free for guests to use.
On the mainland there are direct trains to Portsmouth Harbour station from London Waterloo, Cardiff, Bristol, Brighton, Gatwick Airport, and Woking. These connect at Portsmouth Harbour with the FastCat ferry (Wightlink) then onto the Island Line at Ryde Pier. You can buy through tickets to Shanklin including the ferry crossing, with reductions for Network Card holders.
