About Us

The Clifton is owned and operated by David and Carys who have over thirty years experience in hospitality. As well as a variety of bars and restaurants they recently owned and managed a three star Best Western Hotel with a rosetted restaurant - so you can be confident of an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

History

The Clifton was built in the late 19th century as a 'Gentlemans Residence' when Shanklin was a booming Victorian Spa resort, however we certainly know that by 1921 it was being run as a boarding house by a Mrs Clark and her two daughters. Later additions include the conservatory with views across the garden and out to sea.
